Med(Kit)tation???

MED-KNITATION

As you are reading the title of this topic, you are thinking “Caylee you have spelled meditation wrong!”
Actually, no I did not!
I know the traditional way is to have peace and quiet, and feeling relaxed, and working on clarity, but also you might be sitting in some uncomfortable positions.

As I was recouping from my stroke I was constantly asked, “ Have you meditated today?”
My response would be “Yes with two sticks and a ball of yarn!”
Knitting has been connected to reducing stress, and lowering your blood pressure. You are focused on your breathing and blocking out everything else, as well, the satisfaction is that you are completing something.
You are probably wondering Caylee how do you do this? Well here are  the steps to try :
As I was doing my research for this topic I found this website www.interweave.com that gives the directions of how to do this.
""1. Dial down distractions turn off the radio or tv, as well put your phone on silence or put your phone on a timer and use a calming timer.
""2. Align your spine. sit up in your chair, with your shoulders relaxed, and your elbows are at your side, and chin relaxed on your chest, but if you feel that you want to walk around and knit, have a project that will not weigh your hands down.
""3. Keep it simple.  have a project that you don’t have to look at a pattern.
""4. Be mindful. While knitting brings your awareness to your breathing . . . the way your body feels while sitting, standing, or walking . . . the feel of the yarn . . . the colors . . . any sounds. Let your focus be gentle but steady.

I am a busy mom. After a busy day, I find my spot, knit and do some med-knitation before I go to bed and I love it!

As well, there is a little group of ladies that comes together in the St. George's Anglican church Lounge on the last Wednesday of each month around 6pm. It's where we can sit and relax from the craziness of the day, we knit and enjoy everyone’s company. If you're new to knitting or just want to knit with friends your welcome to join us.
